February, along with January, was introduced onto the Roman calendar by Numa Pompilous when the calendar was extended from ten to twelve. The word February comes from the word 'februa' - which means cleansing or purification, and reflects the rituals undertaken before Spring. The amethyst is the birthstone for February. The primrose is the flower for the month of February.

Wow.  It has taken me almost 6months but I am finally ready (and willing) to overlap the various aspects of my creative and personal life-having battled heavily with resistance to 'social networking'.
